Remotely sensed Earth Observations (EO) data are increasingly available from a number of freely and openly accessible repositories. EO data has entered the paradigm of big data day by day. too large, fast-lived, heterogeneous, or complex to get understood and exploited. Data Cubes (DC) are aiming to realize the full potential of EO data repositories by addressing Volume, Velocity, and Variety challenges, providing access to large spatio-temporal data in an analysis ready form. Learn more about EO data cube here.

A semantic EO data cube or a semantics-enabled EO data cube is a data cube, where for each observation at least one nominal (i.e., categorical) interpretation is available and can be queried in the same instance. Semantic EO data cubes move beyond data storage and provision by offering basic, interoperable building blocks of image-derived information within a data cube. More about Semantic EO data cube here.
